Restoration of #2

Pinehurst has enlisted the help of Coore and Crenshaw to restore #2. They picked the right guys. They are as good as it gets in golf architecture. Their aesthetic is a naturalistic one which is exactly what is needed for this course. It will make it much closer to what Ross intended. Basically, the thick rough will be replaced by the original natural sandy terrain with wire grass. Reducing the rough will open up angles of play that are a large part of what the course is really about.
#2 will not be closed for most of the restoration. They will do it in increments - starting with holes 11 through 14 in the spring of 2010. The course is scheduled to be closed from Nov. 15 until completion on March 2, 2011.
